Leo Darrell Sidwell, the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Sidwell, was born at the home of his parents in Eagle Grove May 18th, 1902, and departed this life Sunday morning, August 9th, 1903, at 10:45 o’clock, just as the church bells were summoning the people to worship. His age was 14 months and 22 days.

Baby Darrell had always appeared so healthy, and his sickness was of such short duration, that his death came as a great shock to all of the family and friends who had learned to love him so well. He was sick of cholera infantum about a week and made a splendid struggle for life, but the disease proved too strong for him and carried him away in spite of all that love and medical skill could do to keep him with us. Although Dr. Goldsmith gave freely of his time and skill, and Dr. Bywater rendered double service, giving the care of a nurse with his medical assistance, the disease kept moving from place to place but could not be driven from the baby's system. Friends and neighbors gave heartfelt sympathy and loving service, which have helped to make the sorrows of the bereaved home possible to bear. The family truly appreciate all that has been done for them, and while their hearts go out to you for your kindness, their prayers are to the Father that your homes may be spared a like bereavement.

The funeral service was held at the home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, and was conducted by Rev. F. O. Bump. The little body was born to rest by four of the girl friends who had cared so much for him in life, Misses Vinnie and Verna Johnson, Hazel Kenney, and Sarah Hibbard. Interment was made at Goldfield, where the body rests with that of his grandfather and other relatives, but Darrel is in heaven where he shall always behold the face of the Father, and rest in Jesus.
