Larry Eugene Dencklau, resident of Vincent, Iowa, passed away on May 19, 2019. He was born October 6, 1946 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Eugene Dencklau and Hazel (Nolte) Dencklau. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He attended Vincent Country School through 8th grade and graduated from Eagle Grove High School. He was married to Linda Stanberg on August 12, 1967. Larry was a lifetime farmer and learned his trade as an electrician. He worked for Lingreen Electric, Tjaden Electric and Gross Electric for over 40 years.

He dutifully served in the Iowa National Guard and Webster County Reserves. His hobbies included hunting, bowling, and race spectating. He will be forever known as a devoted husband, loving father, and caring grandfather. His strong faith in God was consistent throughout his whole life.

Larry is survived by his sweetheart wife: Linda and his three children: Amy Stradtmann (Brad), Scott Dencklau (Mimi) and Katie Newman (Mike). He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Cole, Payton, Adam, Chase, Eli, Lincoln and Aly. He will also be missed by many family and dear friends. He was preceded into death by his parents.

Visitation will be held at Gunderson’s Funeral Home, Wednesday May 29, 2019 from 5-8pm. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 11 am. He will be laid to rest at Colfax Cemetery, Vincent. In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Paul’s Lutheran School.

Eagle Grove man dies in collision of two pickups in Webster County

(Radio Iowa) — One person was killed when two pickup trucks collided near Duncombe in Webster County on Sunday afternoon. Reportedly, a southbound 2011 Dodge Ram pickup truck operated by 72-year-old Larry Dencklau of Eagle Grove and an eastbound 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by 20-year-old Noah Tesler of Fort Dodge collided at the intersection. The Dencklau pickup came to rest facing east in the south ditch while the Tesler pickup entered the field and rolled ejecting the driver.

Larry Dencklau died at the accident scene while Noah Tesler was taken to Unity Point Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines for treatment. A passenger in the Tesler pickup, 15-year-old Nathan Tesler of Fort Dodge was transported to Unity Point Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge for treatment of injuries. The accident remains under investigation.

FORT DODGE, IA - An Eagle Grove man passed away in a fatal accident on Sunday afternoon in Webster County. The accident was reported at 1:33 PM at Xavier Ave and 170th St. 5 miles north of Duncombe. The Iowa State Patrol reports that 72 year old Larry Dencklau of Eagle Grove was driving a 2011 Ram pickup truck south on Xavier Avenue when he collided with a 2004 Silverado pickup driven by 20 year old Noah Tesler of Fort Dodge. Denklau and Tesler collided at the uncontrolled intersection. Dencklau was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene. Noah Tesler was ejected from his vehicle but survived the accident and was taken to Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines to be treated for his injuries. 15 year old Nathan Tesler was a passenger in the Silverado and was taken to Unity Point Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge. His condition is unknown.

The accident remains under investigation, The Webster County Sheriff’s Department, Iowa DNR, Vincent Fire and Rescue and Fort Dodge Fire and Rescue assisted on the scene.
