Benjamin Nels Buraas

Ben Buraas, was born June 27, 1887 in Humboldt County, near Eagle Grove, to Nels and Bertha Anderson Hansen Buraas. He was baptized in July 1887 by Rev. Holm and in October 1901 was confirmed at the Norway Lake Lutheran Church in Humboldt County. He died at Fort Dodge on November 12, after reaching the age of 80 years, 4 months and 15 days.

Ben was born and raised on a farm 5 miles west of Eagle Grove and was always interested in wild life and nature. He was a past president of the Farm Bureau and a long time member of the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church. On November 28, 1918 he was married to Olga Christopherson by Rev. T. J. Severtson. She preceded him in death on September 12, 1961.

Others preceding him in death were his parents and 2 brothers Hans in infancy and Carl in 1938.

Those who mourn his departure are his sister Hilda of Eagle Grove. 2 brothers Ole of Eagle and Herman of Vancouver, Wash.

Funeral services were held Wednesday. November 15, at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church. Rev H. W. Schiller in charge. Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery.
