July 26, 1901 --- June 30, 1972

Mrs. Anna Gaston, 71, the former Anna Engh of Eagle Grove, died at her home in Rancho Cordova, Calif. Friday afternoon.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church, in charge of the pastor H. W. Schiller. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Gaston is survived by her husband, four brothers, John and Emery Engh of Kanawha, William Engh of Newton, Ill. and Olin Engh of Eagle Grove, and one sister, Mrs. C. W. RoJohn of Fort Dodge.

Mrs. Gaston was born in Morris, Ill. July 26, 1901 and moved here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Knud Engh, when a small girl. She was graduated from Eagle Grove High School and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Fort Dodge. She was married to Harold Gaston in Los Angeles, Calif., in 1940.

Anna Hazel Engh was born in Needle Creek Township, Illinois to Knud and Emma Larson Engh on July 26, 1901. Shortly after birth, in accordance to God's command her mother and father presented her to the Lord in holy baptism into the triune faith. On October 29, 1916 she renewed her baptismal covenant through the rite of confirmation at St. John's Lutheran Church, Kanawha. She died at her home in Rancho Cordova, California on Friday, June 30, 1972 after reaching the age of 71 years, 11 months and 4 days.

With her family, Anna moved to Iowa in January, 1904 to a farm in Boone Township, Wright County. She attended the Boone Township School. In 1919 she moved to Eagle Grove. She received her R.N. degree from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Fort Dodge. Anna worked as an R.N. in Washington, California, and Grand Cooley Dam Hospital. On October 5, 1940 she was united in marriage to Harold Gaston in Los Angles, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mrs. Arthur Olson and a twin sister of Olin Engh, who died at birth.

Those who mourn her departure are her husband Harold Gaston; four brothers; John Engh, Kanawha, Emery Engh, Kanawha, William Engh, Newton, Ill., and Olin Engh, Eagle Grove; one sister, Mrs. C. W. RoJohn, Fort Dodge.

Funeral services were held July 5, 1972 at 10:00 a.m. at EGELC. Rev. H. W. Schiller officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery.
