Robert N. Ackerman died Saturday, November 9, 2002, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa, at the age of 82.

Survivors include his brother, Frank C. Ackerman, Scottsbluff, Neb.; sister, Arie W. Ackerman, Phoenix, Ariz.; 12 nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father; sister, Beulah Mae Brietkreutz; and brother, Reverend Edmund Paul Ackerman.

Robert Nelson Ackerman, the son of George and Lillian (Nelson) Moore, was born on March 11, 1920, in Eagle Grove, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth, graduating from Eagle Grove High School. He was adopted by August C. Ackerman in 1925. He served during World War II and the Korean War in the United States Army. After leaving Eagle Grove, he lived in Chicago, Ill., then moved to Omaha, Neb., where he worked for the Railway Express Company and after retiring, he moved back to Chicago, where he worked as a Parking Lot Manager. He moved to the Iowa Vets Home in 2000. He collected stamps and coins.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 12, at 3 p.m., at the First Assembly of God Church in Eagle Grove with Reverend Greg Marlow officiating.

Foust Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
