October 24, 1886 --- August 7, 1964

Clarence L. Emerson, 77, died at his home Friday morning Aug. 7th. He had been in failing health for some time.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:00 in the First Methodist church with the Rev. Roy Cox of Ft. Dodge, former pastor of the church officiating. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Masonic services were conducted at the Sandvig Funeral Home Sunday night at 8:00. Mr. Emerson is survived by his wife, three sons, Dr. Orin Emerson, Dr. Wayne Emerson of Eagle Grove, Dr. Dale Emerson of Ottumwa, and one daughter Mrs. J. Richard Peterson of Milton Junction. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and two brothers, O. O. Emerson of Knoxville and Arthur Emerson of Bartlesville, Okla.

Mr. Emerson was born at Beaver Crossing, Neb. Oct. 24, 1886 and came to Eagle Grove when he was ten years old. He attended the Eagle Grove schools and then farmed south west of Eagle Grove until his death.

In 1909 he was married to Nellie Mae Bawn of Eagle Grove. She survives with the four children, grandchildren and two brothers.

Mr. and Mrs. Emerson moved to their home at 1015 West Broadway in 1960.

He was a member of the Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, Order of Eastern Star, and Modern Woodmen.

Farming one of the largest farms in the Eagle Grove area Mr. Emerson achieved a state and national reputation as a breeder of fine Percheron horses.

He was also active in the establishment of and one of the early sponsors of the present Wright County Fair. He was recognized by the Future Farmers of America chapter by being made an honorary member.

E. Weimer, Hartley; Mrs. Wm. Overhausen, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Griffith and sons, Mrs. Carl Patterson, Mrs. Earl Schuck, Mr. and Mrs. Verne Schuck, Parkersburg; Mrs. Eugene Galpin, Stout; Miss Helen Duer, Newton; Ray Duer, Clarion; Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Kraft, Goldfield; Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Schrage, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Harrah and daughters, Owatonna, Minn.
