November 3, 1885 --- December 12, 1947

Mrs. E. E. Morris of this city died suddenly at Tucson, Arizona Friday morning, December 12. Her death was attributed to a thrombosis.

Mr. and Mrs. Morris had gone to Tucson about a month ago to spend the winter as was their custom. No warning of the attack had come to Mrs. Morris previously. Mr. Morris had gone to the trading post near their apartment leaving her in the best of health. On his return he found her in the apartment unconscious.

Doctors were summoned and she was placed in a hospital in an oxygen tent and every medical care given her. She continued to lose strength and about 8:30 Friday morning passed away.

Mr. and Mrs. Morris had for the past two winters and previous to the war spent their winters in the south. The last two they had been living in an apartment in Tucson in the same house with Mr. and Mrs. William Cowan. Bill is a former Eagle Grove boy.

The funeral was held in the First Congregational Church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30. Reverend Walter Ross pastor was in charge of the service. Miss Winogene Anderson played the organ and Mrs R. W. Gibson sang a solo. Members of the Woman's club and the PEO attended in a body. Mrs. Morris was a member of both clubs as well as the Eastern Star. Interment was in the Fort Dodge Memorial Cemetery.

Relatives and friends from out of the city who attended the services were, Mrs. Earl O'Roke and daughter Beth of Ann Arbor, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Wolcott, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Van Patter, Eldora; Mrs. Allen Sargent, Falls City, Neb.; Mrs. Myrtle Lichty, Sabetha, Kans.; Mrs. T. R. Jorgenson, Clinton, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Day, Fort Dodge, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Day, Clarion, Walter Peterson and Chas. Peterson, Hampton.

Verna L. Harrison, child of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Harrison, was born at Kensington, Smith County, Kansas, November 3, 1885. She attended public school in Kensington, the Presbyterian Sunday School and became a member of the Presbyterian church. She taught school for six years in Kansas, and in changing her residence became a member of the Congregational church. For a number of years she has been a member of the Congregational church of Eagle Grove and has been active in its work, especially in the Woman's Guild. She was also a member of the P.E.O. and of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was united in marriage to Edward E. Morris on October 19, 1910 at Bern, Kansas. In 1925, Mr. and Mrs. Morris moved to Eagle Grove where they have since resided.

Mrs. Morris died suddenly in Tucson, Arizona, December 12, 1947. She is survived by her husband, her parents living in Bern, Kansas; three sisters, Myrtle Lichty of Sabetha, Kansas, Mrs. Leo F. Wolcott of Eldora, Iowa, and Mrs. Allen D. Sargent of Falls City, Nebraska. One sister, Mrs. Wesley Van Amburg preceeded her in death. A niece, Naomi Lichty Jorgenson of Clinton, Iowa made her home in Eagle Grove with Mr. and Mrs. Morris for about ten years preceeding her marriage. There are five nieces and two nephews beside. Also there are three great nephews and one aunt, Sadie Ross of Minneapolis, Minn., and many friends in Kansas and Eagle Grove, Iowa, besides other communities where has had acquaintance.

Mrs. Morris liked people. She believed in the sacredness of personality and in the rights of others, she did not knowingly injure anyone. She believed that living life according to the highest standards was the only truly satisfying way of life. She was a good woman, dearly loved by all those close to her.
