Mrs. E. Kitley’s Mother Dies

Mrs. Mary Belle Wilcox, 80, died Sunday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elmer Kitley, southwest of Eagle Grove. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Kubitschek & Kastler Funeral home, with services in charge of Rev. Wm. Baddeley of Woolstock Methodist church. Burial will be made in Troy cemetery.

Obituary of Mrs. James H. Wilcox

Mary Belle Zimmerman, daughter of Will and Eliza Zimmerman, was born near Bloomington, Ill., December 29th, 1856, and died at the farm home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Kitley, in Troy township, Wright county, Iowa, at 7:30 Sunday evening, February 9th, at the age of 80 years, 1 month and 11 days.

She came to Iowa with her parents in 1870 and settled In Troy Township where she has since lived with the exception of five years when she lived in Eagle Grove.

She was united in marriage with James H. Wilcox at Webster City in 1884 and to them were born two children, one son and one daughter, Clarence who died at the age of 8, and Lottie (Mrs. E. E. Kitley). She was also preceded in death by her husband In 1930.

Mrs. Wilcox was one of the oldest residents of this community, having lived here 66 years. She suffered the hardships of the early pioneers and gave of her energy to build for future generations. She was a regular attendant with her family at the religious services at Troy Methodist church and helped promote the things which would better community life. She was a good citizen, a kind and thoughtful neighbor, a loving and sacrificing mother, and a loyal friend.

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Kitley, and nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Her work is finished and she has entered into rest.

Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon, Feb. 13, from the Kubitschek & Kastler funeral home, conducted by Rev. W. L. Breaw. She was laid to rest in the Troy cemetery beside her husband.
