December 31, 1881 – May 5, 1955

William Young Sr., 73, prominent Eagle Grove farm operator, died at his farm home west of the city Thursday afternoon. He had been in failing health for some time.

Funeral services were held in the Congregational church Monday afternoon with Rev. Dale Brown officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park cemetery in Fort Dodge.

Surviving him are his wife, two sons, Clarence and William Jr. of Eagle Grove and one daughter, Deloris, Mrs. Ralph Dye of Kansas City, Mo. A grandson, Michael James, a brother, Eugene of Minonk, Ill., and a sister Mary of Enid, Okla.

William Young was born to Jacob and Maria Heusel Young on December 31, 1881 in Graymont, Livingston County, Illinois. Here he grew to manhood and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He had been in ill health for a year, but his death came unexpectedly on May 5, 1955. He was 73 years old.

He married Johanna Bauman in 1907, and they came to make a home on their farm west of Eagle Grove. He was a devoted husband and father, interested in his community, and always enjoying his work as a farmer He will be sadly missed by his family.

Preceding him in death were four brothers and two sisters. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, two sons, Clarence and William Jr. of Eagle Grove and his daughter Deloris (Mrs. Ralph Dye) of Kansas City, Mo, and his grandson, Michael James. A brother, Eugene E. Young, Minonk, Ill., a sister Mary Young of Enid, Okla. and several nieces and nephews.

Baumann, Little Rock; Mrs. Forrest Fink, Mrs. Herbert Heiller, Mrs. Arnold Rehms, and Frank Duis, Sibley; Mrs. Arnold Meyer, Farnhamville, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Baumann and Beverly; Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Baumann, Paton, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Heide and Mr. and Mrs. Emil Martens, Pomeroy.
