LENA E. MIDDLETON

Lena Evelyn Vike was born June15, 1894; the daughter of John and Rachal (Rachel) Tieglind (Teigland) Vike at Woolstock. She received her education in Woolstock, and Eagle Grove schools.

She was united in marriage to Homer Middleton of Eagle Grove on August 24, 1916, at her parents home in Eagle Grove. The couple farmed south of Eagle Grove. Mr. Middleton died at the age of 54. Following her husband's death, Lena lived in Eagle Grove for one year prior to returning to the farm. She returned to Eagle Grove again in 1987.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Eagle Grove, the Naomi Circle, Eagle Grove Senior Citizens Center, and the Neighborhood Canasta club.

Lena Evelyn Middleton died at her home in Eagle Grove on Wednesday, May 12, 1993 at the age of 98 years, 10 months and 27 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Elwood; one brother and seven sisters; and one great-grandchild.

She is survived by her son, Jack and daughter, Darlene, both of Eagle Grove; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 14, at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. The Rev. Scott C. Hall officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.

Kastler-Babcock Services, Eagle Grove, was in charge of arrangements.
