Judith Kaye (Berhow) Hegg passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019, at the Waverly Health Center at the age of 72.

Judy was born February 4, 1947, to Leroy (Bud) Berhow and Lucille Chapman of Kanahwa, Iowa. She graduated from Kanawha High School in 1965 and attended North Iowa Area Community College graduating with and Associate Degree in 1967. She began her career as a medical coder in Iowa Falls, later moving to Sartori Hospital in Cedar Falls. She continued her career at Waverly Municipal Hospital for 20+ years, where she retired in 2010. During this time, she also was an associate at Faith Lutheran preschool in Shell Rock. She married Jim Hegg on August 30, 1968. They made their home and raised their children, Angi and Brian, in Shell Rock, Iowa. She was an active participant in Jim’s Boundary Water Canoe Area trips. She offered support, advice, strategy and cooking/cleaning skills (especially with the black pans!). After retirement Judy loved working around her home and gardening in her yard. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Shell Rock. During her life she enjoyed reading, gardening, making crafts, camping, canoeing, and spending time with family and friends.

Judy is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Jim; her mother, Lucy Berhow of Kanawha, Iowa; her son, Brian (Holly) and grandchildren Brynn Noelle and Tyler James Hegg of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; her grandson Michael Jon Bronemann and his father Jon (Tammy) Bronemann of Cedar Falls, Iowa; her sisters, Patsy (Kevin) Sanders of Fayetteville, TN and Becky Ruter of Corwith, Iowa; her brother, Tim (Nancy) Berhow of Corwith, Iowa and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Angi Lynn Bronemann and her father.

Judy has been cremated and a private family service will be held. A public Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Faith Lutheran Church in Shell Rock. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Hope Lodge of the University of Iowa in Iowa City or the Shell Rock Public Library. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock is in charge of arrangements.
