Mrs. Paul Phillips, 41, of Eagle Grove, a former Kalona resident died Monday at Clarion Community Hospital after brief illness. Services were Thursday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery there.

Mrs. Phillips was born May 26, 1928, to Joseph and Celeste Kern in Richmond. She attended Richmond Schools and graduated from Kalona High School. She was married to Paul Phillips in 1949, at Kalona. They lived in Kalona and Parkersburg before moving to Eagle Grove 16 years ago. She was past president of the Heart Guild, a grand regent of the Catholic Daughters of America, and president of the Eagle Grove Band Boosters Club. Survivors include her husband, two sons, Kevin and Craig, both at home; a brother, Robert Kern, and two sisters, Mrs. Robert Droll and Miss Lucille Kern, all of Hills.
