Final rites for James Yenck

James Nicholas Yenck, son of Nicholas James and Esther Caroline Cochran Yenck, was born in Vincent on November 8, 1921. He attended school in Eagle Grove.

Jim served in the Army during World War II and was stationed in Europe. He was wounded three times and awarded three Purple Hearts.

He and Arlene LaRue were joined in marriage June 29, 1947 in Eagle Grove, at the Methodist Church.

Jim died Friday, July 21, at the Veteran's Hospital in Des Moines at the age of 56.

Survivors include his wife; two sons: James Michael of Mason City and Mark David of Eagle Grove; three daughters: Mary Elaine (Mrs. Roger) Slater, Susan Elizabeth and Kelly Jo Yenck, all of Eagle Grove; one grandchild; two sisters: Helen Elizabeth (Mrs. Art) Beckel of Clarinda and Bernice (Mrs. Fred) Crovisier of Eagle Grove.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three children.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 22,1978, at 2 p.m. at the Kastler-Babcock-DeYoung Funeral Home. Rev. Charles E. Dutton officiated and burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
