Vernon D. Erickson passed away at his home in Clayton, North Carolina on April 3, 2019. He was born near Thor, Iowa, on December 4, 1941, to Orville and Sylvia Larson Erickson. He grew up on a farm near Badger. He attended country school and Eagle Grove High School. He was employed with Otteson Plumbing and Clark Construction before moving to North Carolina in 1986 where he continued in construction work. Vernon served with the U.S. Army in the Viet Nam War.

Vernon is survived by his daughter Sarah (Tim) Harris of Clayton, NC; grandson Cyrus; siblings Marilyn Keck, Colorado Springs, CO; Bonnie Erpelding, Algona, IA; Gary (Anne), Fort Dodge, IA; David (Mary Ann), Creedmoor, NC:, Barbara Mukelbust, [Muklebust] Denver, CO; Brian, Florence, AZ; brother-in-law Harold Carlson; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by wife Rose, son Eric Andrew “Andy,” Hansen, parents Orville and Sylvia Erickson, sister Violet Carlson, brother John, and brother-in-laws Don Keck, Maurice Erpelding and Al Mukekbust [Muklebust].

Visitation and funeral services officiated by Pastor Rodney Pearce were held on April 11 at McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton, NC. Burial with full military honors followed at McLaurin at Pinecrest.
