Harold R. Beckholt was born in Eagle Grove, the son of Clarence and Lena Wilson Beckholt. He was married to Mary Mulligan in 1941. He was a graduate of Valparaiso Electronic Institute. He was a member of the Spartanburg Amateur Radio Club and an amateur radio operator, amateur radio station W4aa. He retired from WSPA Radio as chief engineer after 36 years.

Harold R. Beckholt, 72, of Spartanburg, South Carolina, died September 1, 1990. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, in 1954. Survivors include one daughter, Jane, and one son, Joe, of Spartanburg.

Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Catholic Church September 4, in Spartanburg. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Spartanburg, S.C.
