Long Time Resident Dies May 31
Came To Eagle Grove From Baden, Germany In 1882, Resided Here Since

Funeral services were held for Jacob J. Kist, one of Eagle Grove's for oldest residents on Monday, June 3 at 9:30 in Sacred Heart Church. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery and Rev. Maurice Mullan officiated.

Mr. Kist died May 31 at the home of his daughter Mrs. Dwight Anderson. Born in Germany on Aug. 9, 1881, Mr. Kist came to America and Eagle Grove when he was 9 months old. That would bring him here in the spring of 1882 and he has resided here ever since. He would have been 75 this coming August. With his father in earlier years and by himself later Mr. Kist had been in the moving and hauling business until his retirement.

He is survived by his daughter Mrs. Dwight Anderson, one grandson and two granddaughters. Also four brothers, Joe of Eagle Grove, Ed of Los Angeles, George of Arcadia, Calif.; Bud of Minneapolis; four sisters Mrs. Mary Cunningham, Mrs. Sophia Koonz and Mrs. Catherine LeMay all of Los Angeles and Mrs Elizabeth Williams of Independence, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his wife and one brother Calvin.
