F. B. ANDREWS DIES TUESDAY NOVEMBER 7TH

F. B. Andrews, 68, died at his home on West Broadway at 4 o'clock Tuesday morning. Saturday morning he was stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage, rendered unconscious and never made any progress toward recovery.

Mr. Andrews was one of our most respected and reliable citizens. He came to Eagle Grove just 40 years ago and continued in the real estate and insurance business since that time. He was prominent in masonic lodge activities and served as Master of Bower Lodge and held positions of trust in the other masonic organizations. In 1900 he was united in marriage with Ida Bliss. He is survived by his wife, one sister, Mrs. Adell Suurballe of Garner, and various other relatives. He was born In Franklin county Feb. 6, 1871.

Funeral This Afternoon

Funeral services will be held this Thursday, afternoon in the Methodist church at 2 o'clock, with the Rev. J. R. Tumbleson in charge, assisted by the Rev. W. L. Breaw of Sheldon.

The masonic service will be given at the grave.

F. B. Andrews

Frank B. Andrews was born Feb. 6, 1871, near Geneva, Franklin county, Iowa, and passed on shortly before 5 o'clock November 7, 1939, at the age of 68 years, 7 months, and 1 day. Mr. Andrews was born in a log cabin which still stands, and was one of 13 children born to Allen and Mary Andrews, 9 of whom grew to maturity. A son of hardy Scotch pioneers who came to Iowa from New York. His father died when he was 3 years old but the mother, thru her thrift and love, kept her family together until her death 10 years later. When only 13 years old, Mr. Andrews was dependent upon his own efforts for a livelihood, and is truly a self-made man. He attended the State Normal College at Cedar Falls, Iowa, and the Capital City Commercial College at Des Moines, subsequently engaged in the mercantile business at Dumont, Iowa. For some time he taught school, and on May 14, 1900 he was united in marriage to Miss Ida M. Bliss at Eagle Grove.

Mr. Andrews came to Eagle Grove in 1897 and engaged in the real estate and insurance business. He was at his office as usual last Friday, but on Saturday morning he was stricken by a stroke of paralysis and never regained consciousness. Mr. Andrews is survived by his devoted wife and companion, Mrs. Ida M. Andrews, one sister, Mrs. John Suurballe of Garner, and 16 nieces and nephews.

Mr. Andrews built a large and successful business based upon honesty and fair dealing. He enjoyed the universal respect and confidence of this community and the large circle of friends throughout Northern Iowa. A man of high Ideals, strong convictions and energetic action, he hated sham and deceit and admired frankness, honesty and fairness. He was a lover of t h e outdoor world and the sports and took an active part in football, tennis, and baseball in his younger days.

Mr. Andrews was a good citizen who contributed largely to the upbuilding of this community. He had an abiding faith In the worth of Iowa land and the future of this community. He was active in the Commercial Club, the Rotary Club, President of the local school board, Master of the Masonic Blue Lodge and Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star, High Priest of the Eagle Grove Chapter, Secretary to his lodge, a 32nd degree Mason, and a regular attendant of the Methodist Episcopal church, of which he was a member. Quietly and without public display, he gave of his time and money to aid those in need. This community has lost an exemplary citizen whose place cannot be easily filled.

Rhungan and son, Mason City; Mrs. Dean Slanvelle, Jr., Ventura; Herman Stock, Audrey Stock, Charles Stock, Morrison; Henry Stock, Grundy Center; Mrs. John Suurballe and John of Garner; Mrs. James Carr, Mrs. Chas. Tompkins, Mrs. Fred Steiff, Garner; Dr. R. E. Fothergill, Wilmington, Del.; Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Horner, and Mrs. Deloss Garrett of Hampton.
