Rebecca ‘Becky’ Full, 60, of Belmond, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2019 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Memorial services for Becky Full will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 304 3rd Avenue North East in Belmond, with Pastor Cindy Morrison officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Monday, April 15, 2019 at Ewing Funeral Home, 111 Luick’s Lane South in Belmond.

Rebecca Louise, the daughter of Durwin and Betty (Mertens) Wilcoxon was born June 4, 1958 in Primghar, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Cherokee, and graduated from Everly High School in 1976 at the age of 17. Following high school, Becky was united in marriage to Douglas Full on June 26, 1976. The couple made their home in Spencer until relocating to Belmond in 1981.

In addition to being a stay-at-home mom, Becky worked at Rowan Lumber and Archibald’s in Belmond while continuing her education at NIACC, where she graduated in 1992 with her Associate of Arts degree, followed by her attendance and graduation from the College of Saint Catherines Pi Theta Epsilon with a BA in Occupational Therapy in 1995.

Becky was a lifelong learner, and after starting the Occupational Therapy Department at Iowa Specialty Hospital (then, Wright Medical Center), she continued to research natural healing and essential oils for use in the care of her patients. She took great pride in her patients’ recovery and cared for them like her own children, regardless of their age.

Through all of this, being a mother came first. When the kids were little, she made each day special by baking homemade birthday cakes, helping with classroom parties, teaching Sunday school, welcoming all of the kids’ friends into their home and supporting the kids to accomplish any goal they set.

Becky loved traveling with Doug and the kids. She spent hours planning road trips, researching all of the many sites and opportunities to squeeze as many memorable experiences into each trip as possible. She viewed her friends in Belmond as an extension of her family, spending many nights going out for dinner, camping and hosting the perfect holiday parties.

In most recent years, her granddaughters were her whole heart. Grandma and Grandpa spent summer months in Belmond around Linzie’s family and winters in California in order to be near Laramie’s family.

She often commented that she wanted her grandchildren to truly know her, so she spent countless hours with them, teaching them to sew and bake, doing various craft projects, attending dance recitals, sporting events, school concerts, selling girl scout cookies and having them for sleepovers which always culminated with a breakfast of “the best blueberry pancakes in the world.”

Becky had a strong faith in God, and attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Belmond, helping with community meals and other projects. Through her faith, she made peace with her various health challenges and recognized that with the generous gift of life through organ donation, she had received an additional 23 years to spend with her family.

Left to cherish Becky’s memory are her husband Doug Full of Belmond; her son Laramie (Ashley) Full and their daughters Claire and Maggie Full of Fresno, California; her daughter Linzie (Waylon) Morris and their daughters Kaylen and Kennedy Morris of Belmond; her mother, Betty Wilcoxon of Spencer; her brother Wayne Wilcoxon of Sun City, Arizona; her sister Sheryl (Kevin) Lee of Spencer; sisters-in-law Pam (Dan) Morrow of Cherokee and Teresa (Earl) Larsen of Omaha; brother-in-law Bruce (Nancy) Full of Sergeant Bluff; along with nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends from coast to coast. Becky was preceded in death by her infant daughter Heidi Full in 1978, her father Durwin Wilcoxon, and parents-in-law, Les and Shirley Full.
