Harold Howell Buried Tuesday

Funeral services for Harold Howell, nephew of John Howell of this city and son of the late George Howell, were held at Sacred Heart church Tuesday morning, with Father Thos. O’Toole in charge. Mr. Howell was born in Eagle Grove on Dec. 4, 1897. He attended the Sacred Heart schools until 1914 when he moved with his parents to Peoria, Ill., and a year, later to Sterling, Ill., where the family made its home until after the death of Mrs. Howell, and the girls Esther and Naomi. Harold Howell went to Chicago in 1923 where he entered DePaul University, taking the law course. He was in due time admitted to the bar of Illinois, but ill health prevented his entering active practice. He died on May 16, 1931.

He is survived by one brother, George Howell Jr. of Baltimore, Md. The father, George Howell Sr., was buried here last month. George Howell Jr. is the sole survivor of a family of eight. John H. Howell, an uncle, and Mrs. M. D. Donegan, an aunt of this city, also survive. The sympathy of the entire community is extended the sorrowing relatives. The George Howell family was among the early pioneers here and were instrumental in the upbuilding of the city. Now the members of the immediate are all gone but one.
