AGNES QUIGLEY

Funeral services for Agnes Quigley, 92, of Belmond, who died Saturday evening at the Belmond Community Hospital, were held a 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Msgr. Alvan P. Heuring officiating.

Pallbearers were Gerald McNulty, Donald McNulty, Ed McLaughlin, Dr. R. E. Misner, Henry Johnson, and Tom Quigley. Burial was in St Francis Church Cemetery. Fulton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Agnes Katherine Brannan was born the daughter of Frank and Mary Ann McCauley Brannan, on December 19, 1886, on a farm in Dane County, Wis., near the town of Pine Bluff. She was raised and educated at Pine Bluff.

On October 12, 1910, she was married to Frank Quigley at the Pine Bluff Catholic Church. They moved to Belmond where they resided for a short while and then moved to Goodell where she was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the St. Mary’s Rosary Society, and the Catholic Daughters of America, for 16 years.

After a five year residence at Maple Hill, she and her family moved to Belmond. She was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, and was a chair of one of the divisions of the Rosary Society for 15 years. She belonged to the Belmond Grandmother’s Club, the Belmond Senior Citizens Club, and a Birthday Club. At the time of her death, she was the oldest member of the St. Francis Parish.

She is survived by 3 daughters: Viola (Mrs. Clifford) Johnson of Belmond, Ruth (Mrs. Dale) Smith of Mason City, Lorraine (Mrs. J. A.) Sparks of St. Paul, Minn.; two sisters: Mrs. Wilmer Burk of Belmond and Mrs. Cordelia Moen of Madison, Wis.; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; 14 nieces and 12 nephews.

She is preceded in death by a son, John Francis; her husband, Frank; her parents; one grandson, Jerry Sparks; 2 sisters, Margaret Bollig and Mary Jane Reisdorf; and 7 brothers, Thomas, John, James, Joe, Pat, Leo and Earl Brannan.
