Cora McNutt, 63, dies in Belmond

BELMOND - Miss Cora L. McNutt, 63, died Wednesday at the Belmond Community Hospital. She had been in Washington, D.C., many years and returned to live here just a month ago.

The daughter of George and Katherine Trumblee McNutt, she was born in Belmond July 9, 1902.

Surviving are a brother, Alfred McNutt. Fargo, N.D.; a sister, Mrs. Eugene (Lillian) McLaughlin, Belmond.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Belmond Methodist Church. Burial will be in Belmond Cemetery with Fulton Funeral Home in charge.

Rites conducted for Cora McNutt

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Methodist church for Cora Loretta McNutt, who died Wednesday of last week of cancer at Belmond Community hospital. A native of Belmond, she had spent the greater part of the 63 years of her life in this community.

Rev. M. L. Jones officiated over the final rites, Fulton Funeral Home being in charge. Burial was in the Belmond cemetery. Pallbearers were Daniel Ramsey of Des Moines, Robert Stanage of Saint Paul, Minn., Bob McLaughlin of Washington, D. C., Alfred McLaughlin of Grinnell, David and Sam McLaughlin.

Miss McNutt was born July 9, 1902, the daughter of George Albert and Catherine Georgiana Tumblee McNutt. She was a member of the Methodist church and she graduated from Belmond High school in 1918.

Most of her adult lifetime was spent here. Cora was employed as a telephone operator. She followed the same occupation after going in 1941 to Washington, D. C., where she made her home until returning to Belmond in early February of this year. Miss McNutt had learned of her affliction with cancer about a year and a half ago.

Her only immediate survivors are a brother Alfred McNutt of Fargo, N. D., and a sister, Mrs. Eugene (Lillian) McLaughlin of Belmond.
