Walter C. Nystuen

NORTHWOOD—Walter C. Nystuen, 71, died Jan. 7, at a hospital in Mission, Tex., after a heart attack. They had gone to Texas to spend the winter.

Born Jan. 20, 1900, in Worth county, he was the son of Knut Nystuen and Karina Harman Nystuen.

Oct. 2, 1926 he was married to Inez A. Rood at Des Moines. He was Superintendent of Schools in Thor, Havelock, Goodell, Marble Rock, Kanawha, and Fertile Schools. He was an insurance agent in Eagle Grove, regional supervisor for Farm Bureau Insurance in Des Moines and worked for Grinnell Mutual Insurance. In 1967 he retired and moved to Northwood.

Surviving are his wife, a son, Richard, Cedar Falls; a daughter, Mrs. Lyle (Betty) Qually, Rochester, Minn., five grandchildren, three brothers, Maurice and Vernon, both Northwood; Floyd, Rochester; three sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Reyerson, Albert Lea; Mrs. Luella Rensmon, Albert Lea; Mrs. Edwin (Valberg) Reyerson, New Richmond, Minn.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Rudolph, and a sister, Mrs. Ray Bergan.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church in Northwood. The Rev. H. A. Wilke will officiate. Burial will be in Silver Lake Church Cemetery with Conner-Colonial Chapel in charge. Masonic rites will be held at the Chapel at 8 p.m. Monday.

WALTER NYSTUEN

NORTHWOOD, IA. - Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Lutheran Church here for Walter C. Nystuen, 71, of Northwood, a former Des Moines resident who died Jan. 7 while vacationing in Mission, Tex.

Mr. Nystuen, formerly a regional supervisor for Iowa Farm Bureau Insurance Co., lived in Des Moines from 1953 to 1965 and later lived in Washington, la. He is a former school superintendent at Thor, Havelock, Marble Rock, Kanawha and Fertile.

Surviving are his wife, a son, a daughter, three brothers, four sisters and five grandchildren.
