Services Thursday for Nellie P. Klein

Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) 2 p.m. for Mrs. Nellie P. Klein, 90, at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home.

Rev. Donald Forbes will officiate at the services, with burial at Rose Hill cemetery, Eagle Grove.

Mrs. Klein died at her apartment at 517½ Broadway Monday evening after a long illness.

She is survived by two daughters: Norma, Mrs. James Fraser, Des Moines; and Mildred, Mrs. Lyle Middleton, Webster City.

Nellie Pearl Klein was born on July 30, 1879, at Marengo. Iowa, the daughter of William and Catherine Shedenhelm Umbarger.

She was educated at Marengo and later taught school there.

She was united in marriage to Albert B. Klein at Marengo on June 25, 1902, and continued to make their home in Marengo until moving to Eagle Grove in 1908, where Mr. Klein was engaged in the carpentry trade. Mr. Klein died in 1945.

The couple had become the parents of two daughters, both of whom survive. They are Norma Fraser (Mrs. James Fraser) Des Moines and Mildred Middleton, (Mrs. Lyle Middleton) Webster City.

Mrs. Klein was employed by the Grahams Department Store in Eagle Grove for a number of years.

She was also quite active in the various organizations in the Eagle Grove community, and had belonged to the BPW, the White Shrine, Eastern Star, and Rebekahs.

She was a long time member of the Methodist Church in Eagle Grove.

Mrs. Klein died quietly at her home on Monday evening, November 17, after a lengthy illness. At the time of her death, she had attained the age of 90 years, 3 months, and 17 days.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother, two half-brothers and one half-sister.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 20, at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Forbes officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Eagle Grove.
