January 31, 1915 ---- February 27, 2000

Frances Brown, 85, Woolstock, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000 at Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Faith United Methodist Church in Webster City with Rev. Brian Carter officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and prior to the service on Tuesday. Foster Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

Frances Sylvie Ernst, daughter of Frank and Martha Handeland Ernst, was born January 31, 1915 on a farm east of Humboldt. The family moved to Minnesota and she received her education at the Dexter, MN., and Stewartville, MN schools. They moved to Stanhope and she attended school there. On Dec. 12, 1933 she married Morris Everett Brown at Albert Lea, MN. The couple farmed in the Blairsburg area for five years, then farmed in the Mulberry Center area for 19 years, moving to Woolstock in 1962. She was a cook in the Woolstock and Eagle Grove school system, retiring in 1979. Mr. Brown died Sept. 19, 1989 and she continued to reside in Woolstock.

Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Robert Verbrugge, Chippewa Falls, WI., son and daughter-in-law [there was no name but checked husband's obit and they had a son Robert], Webster City, grandchildren, Mindy and Mike Brown, Marsha Verbrugge, step-grandchildren, Joy Foose, Lori Hartnett and Josh Flugstad; three step-great-grandsons; sisters, Gladys Leifeld of Winona, MN., Grace Scribner of New Hartford, Ethel Fowler of Oregon and Helen Groves of Mankato, MN., several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Ruth Fowler.

She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, a former member of the Mulberry Center United Methodist Church, Woolstock Senior Citizens, Helping Hands ladies aid and Faith United Methodist Church Circles.
