Services Held for Harry Slining, 78

Funeral services for Harry Slining, 78, who passed away Tuesday morning at the Belmond Community Hospital, were held at 1:30 p. m. Friday In the United Church of Christ, Congregational in Belmond. The Rev. Don Riemer officiated and burial was in the Belmond Cemetery. The Willim- Andrew Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Born July 6, 1893, on a farm near Belmond, he was the son of Henry and Elizabeth (Alt) Slining. He was raised and educated in the rural Belmond area. On June 2, 1920, he was united in marriage to Eunice Reed in the Reed home near Lake Cornelia. The couple farmed Mr. Slining's home farm where he with his family came when he was 16 years of age. At the time of his death he had lived on the same farm for a total of 62 years. Mr. Slining had been in failing health for the past year and a half.

Survivors include his wife, Eunice; 4 sons: Glen of Silverton, Oregon; Robert of Goodell, Duane of Dows, Harry Jr. of Babbitt, Minn.; 4 daughters, Mrs. Mike (Mildred) Macri of Des Moines; Mrs. Don (Arlene) Davis of Harlan, Mrs. Irv (JoAnne) Kuester of Belmond, and Mrs. Roger (Janet) Shahan of Ames; 36 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Floyd (Pearl) Doctor of Belmond.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, Clarence, one sister, Louise, one daughter in infancy and one grandchild.
