LUELLA McCUTCHEON AXON

Luella McCutcheon Axon, was born on July 12,1893, the daughter of William and Martha Stevenson McCutcheon, in the Evergreen Community, southwest of Goldfield. She was baptized in the Christian faith and as a young girl became a member of the United Presbyterian Church. In 1912, she moved with her parents into Goldfield.

Luella was united in marriage with Clifford F. Axon on Dec. 6, 1916. The couple made their home in Goldfield. To this union were born three children, Mervin William, Clifford, Jr. and Kenneth Wayne. Mr. Axon passed away in August of 1962.

Luella resided in Goldfield until three years ago when she moved to the Rotary Ann Home to due ill health. She was a long-time member of the Bayview Study Club and was one of the older members of the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield in which she was very active.

She is survived by two sons, Mervin and Kenneth of Goldfield; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, one sister, Martha, Mrs. Paul Pardun of Clarion; and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son, Clifford Jr. 3 brothers, John McCutcheon, William H. McCutcheon; Hugh McCutcheon; five sisters, Jennie, Mrs. Art Bjornson; Mary, Mrs. Frank Bjornson; Mysie, Mrs. Penn Eckels; Nellie, Mrs. Samuel Umstead and Bessie, Mrs. Glen Trotter.

Funeral services for Mrs. Luella Axon of Goldfield, were held on Saturday, Jan., 19,1985 at 1:30 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield. Rev. Victor Victoria, church pastor officiated and burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield. Visitation was held on Friday at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home.
