BELMOND –Mrs. Julia McNulty, 86, died Wednesday in the Belmond Community Hospital. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Church here with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Johnston Funeral Home is in charge.
Born in March 1875, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick McLaughlin. She was married to Thomas P. McNulty.
Surviving are four sons, Donald, Belmond; Paul, Daggett, Calif.; Father Edward McNulty. Cedar Rapids; Gerald, Belmond; three daughters, Miss Marian McNulty, Minneapolis; Mrs. D. D, (Donna) Castle, Tucson, Ariz.; Mrs. .C. J. (Patricia) Rowe, St. Paul; and a brother, Thomas McLaughlin, Dubuque.

Solemn Requiem High Mass was held Friday at St. Francis Catholic church for Julia McNulty, who passed away Wednesday of last week at Belmond Community hospital. Participating in the final rites were Rev. Edward J. McNulty of Cedar Rapids, son of the deceased, as celebrant; Mon. D. A. Brady, Waterloo, deacon; Rev. Ronald Axen, Dougherty, sub-deacon; and Rev. Raymond Bohrer, Rockwell, master-of-ceremonies.
The Most Rev. George Biscup, Bishop of Dubuque, gave absolution. Priests present in the sanctuary were Mon. Luke Streigel of Garner, Mon. W. C. Hradecky of Duncan, Mon. James Slowey of Clarion, Rev. Louis T. Flynn of Nashua, Rev. Justin Kane of Britt, Rev. E. J. Weimer of Buffalo Center and Rev. Thomas Braak of Dubuque. Acolytes for the service were Kevin Griffin, Robert Dorr, Dennis Dougherty and Jim Dixon.
The sermon was delivered by Rev. R. A. Ormsby. Arrangements were in the charge of Fulton Funeral Home. Burial was in St. Francis cemetery and the pallbearers were Ed Kenney, Donald Dorr, Leo Gilligan, Thomas McNulty and Dennis McNulty, the latter three grandsons of Mrs. McNulty.
Julia Theresa McLaughlin was born March 8, 1875, near St. Theresa’s in Dubuque county to Patrick J. and Mary Flynn McLaughlin. The family moved later to Dubuque. Julia was wed on Nov. 28, 1905, to Thomas P. McNulty at Vinton.

Mr. McNulty was at the time operating the family farm south of Goodell and they made their home there until moving to Belmond on Christmas Eve of 1912.
Seven children were born to Thomas and Julia McNulty, all of whom survive: four sons–Donald, of Belmond; Paul, Daggett, Calif.; Rev. Edward J. McNulty, Cedar Rapids; Gerald, of Belmond; and three daughters—Marian, of Minneapolis; Mrs. Vern (Madonna) Castle, Tucson, Ariz.; and Mrs. C. J. (Patricia) Rowe, St. Paul, Minn.
Also surviving is a brother, Thomas McLaughlin of Dubuque.
Mr. McNulty preceded his wife in death on Jan. 29, 1960, after they had enjoyed the privilege of observing their Golden Wedding anniversary in November of 1955. She was also preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.

Mrs. McNulty was for many years active in the affairs of St. Francis church and held member ship in the Catholic Daughters of America. The interest she held in community matters was reflected y her associate membership in the Belmond Community Hospital Auxiliary.
Relatives attending the funeral from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. George Pinski of Dubuque, John J. Sullivan, Agnes Sullivan and Hazel Sullivan of Chicago, Janet Mangen and Mary Flaherty of Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Hofer and Dennis Callen of Clear Lake.
