MRS. W. GROSS DIES THURS. BURIED SUN.

Well Known Eagle Grove Citizen Lives to be Nearly 80, Before Answering Death's Call.

Mrs. Wm. H. Gross died at her home on West Broadway after an illness which lasted for about six months. Her husband preceded her in death by about two, months, passing to the great beyond Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1930. The following history of Mrs. Gross life and very fitting tribute was prepared and read at the funeral service by her pastor.

(By Rev. W. G. Muhleman)

Mary A. Stare, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Stare, was born near York, Pa., Feb. 21, 1851, where her childhood days were spent on the farm.

Her marriage with Wm. H. Gross occurred on Oct. 21, 1869. To this union five children were born: William and Sadie who died in infancy, Mary E. (Mrs. Luther Mussulman) who died in January, 1926, Charles E., and George H. Gross who live
to cherish her memory.

In 1876 Mr. and Mrs. Gross moved to Mendota, Ill., where they made their home. From here they, moved to a farm near Mendota in 1882. In the spring of 1891 she went to make her home on a farm near Cerro Gordo, Ill., where she resided until 1897 when she and her husband moved to the farm northwest of Eagle Grove, Iowa, which is now occupied by Frank Lynch. Since 1905 she and her husband have resided in Eagle Grove. After an illness covering a period of about six months she departed this life on Thursday evening, Feb. 5, 1931. Had she lived until Feb. 21 she would have reached the age of 80 years. Her husband preceded her in death just two months and 11 days. When Mrs. Gross was a young girl she was baptized and received into membership of the Lutheran church. Her faith in her Savior never wavered and only a few hours before her death she gave a most positive testimony, to her saving faith in Christ. It is always, a great Joy to us who remain to hear our loved ones, whose physical strength is well nigh spent, express their spiritual faith with such vigor. It is an evidence that the health and strength of the body or the sickness and death of the body has nothing to do with the strength of the spiritual self.

Mrs. Grass leaves two brothers and one sister out of a family of eleven. They are: Samuel Stare of Blue Island, Ill., Geo. W. Stare and Amanda S. Bahn of York, Pa. These, together with the children and a number of grandchildren, remain to revere her memory.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist church at 2:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The services were in charge of W. G. Muhleman. The sermon was preached from Heb. 12:22,23. Interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery.
