ARLENE B. M. BURRES
Arlene Berniece Marian Burras, the daughter of Carl Hansen and Berthilde Anderson Burras, was born on October 4, 1927, on a farm near Kanawha, Iowa. She was baptized, confirmed and attended church in a local (St. John. Country, Lutheran Church one mile from her home. She also attended the country school in Kanawha, and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1945. She was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for several years and later married Everett Howard Burres of Deer Creek, Minn., and moved to northern Minnesota for one year, then to Washington State, and later returned to Iowa where they farmed near Vincent. Her life centered around family, church, and friends. She worked enthusiastically with the handicapped for many years. They then moved to their present farm west of Eagle Grove where she spent her remaining years.

Arlene B. Burres died Thursday, December 23, 1999, at home in Eagle Grove, at the age of 72. She is survived by her husband, Carl; three daughters, Judy Burres Musselman, Manson, Iowa, Bettie Youngs, Delmar, Calif., and Laurie Burres, Eagle Grove; three sons, Mark Burres, and wife, Debbie, Eagle Grove, Kevin Burres, and wife, Peggy, Eagle Grove, and Tim Burres and wife, Linda, Thor, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Stanley Burras, Eagle Grove, Raymond Burras, Kanawha, Carroll Burras, Kanawha, and Roger Burras, Clarion; three sisters, Cora Spangler, Eagle Grove, Verna Headrick, Brandon, S. D., and Opal Neese, Clearfield, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Irving, Renwick; and two brother-in-laws, Bud Headrick, Brandon Park, S. D„ and Dale Neese, Clearfield, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 27, 1999, at 1:30 p.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with Reverends Paul and Susan Stone officiating. Burial was held in the Rose Hill Cemetery of Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
