George H. Gross dies at age 91

Funeral services for George H. Gross, 91, were held Monday afternoon at the Kastler Babcock DeYoung Funeral Home.

Rev. Donald Glazier officiated, and burial rites were in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Gross died suddenly Friday morning at the Rotary Ann Home.

Mr. and Mrs. Gross moved to the Rotary Ann Home ten years ago and for some time both have been in ill health.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Lyle; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Gross was born in Mendota, Ill., and moved to a Wright County farm in 1910. After their marriage in Illinois, Mr. and Mrs. Gross farmed southeast of Eagle Grove for many years before retiring to their house in town.

George Henry Gross was born November 6, 1884, at Mendota, Ill., the son of William H. and Mary Stare Gross.

He received his education in Mendota.

He came to Iowa in 1910, to farm with his parents.

He was united in marriage, to Callie F. Larrick of Cerro Gordo, Ill., at Cerro Gordo.

The couple farmed, southeast of Eagle Grove until moving to Eagle Grove.

They had lived at the Rotary Ann Home for the past ten years, and Mr. Gross died suddenly on the morning of July 25, at the age of 91 years, 8 months and 19 days.

He is survived by his wife; and one son, Lyle Gross, Eagle Grove; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.

Funeral services were, held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 28, 1975 at the Kastler Babcock DeYoung Funeral Home, Eagle Grove. Rev. Donald Glazier officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle. Grove.

Neighbors at the Rotary Ann Home of Mrs. George Gross sympathize with her in the death of her husband, which occurred Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Gross had been residents of Rotary Ann for several years. Although she is in frail health, Sunday afternoon her grandsons, Douglas and George Gross, came for her and escorted her to the funeral home to spend a while.

Mr. and Mrs. Martin Larson, a niece of Mrs. Gross, called on her Sunday.
