Edward Ellsworth Gross, 72, passed away Friday, Dec. 14, 1979, in Ames at the North Grand-Care Center.

Ed was the son of Charles and Verna Pickering Gross. He was born in Eagle Grove on August 7, 1907. He graduated from Eagle Grove high school and junior college. After college he was employed by Ford garage.

He was united in marriage to Dorothy Lewis of Eagle Grove. After his marriage he went into the Army, Motor Corp's. He was discharged in 1945. When he returned to Eagle Grove he became employed by Christensen's garage until retirement, then he restored antique cars for Don Knudsen until his health started to fail. He went to the North Grand Care Center, Ames, in the spring of 1979.

He was a member of the Methodist Church, American Legion, and a charter member of the V.F.W.

He is survived by three sisters: Mary (A.L.) Wiggins, Clarion; Margaret (A.M.) Orum, Carthage, Ill.; Dorothy (H.L.) Hanson, Edina, Minn.; one sister-in-law, Leona Gross, Eagle Grove.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 18, 1979, 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove. Rev. Donald Callen officiated and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
