James John Kepler, the son of Cecil and Catherine Marie (Meier) Kepler, was born on April 9, 1930, in Eagle Grove. He was raised and educated in Eagle Grove, graduating in the “Class of 1949”. On September 14, 1952, Jim was united in marriage with Thelma Oldson at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove. Jim worked for Boone Valley Coop and the Chicago Northwestern Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad for 40 plus years.

Jim was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove. Jim enjoyed working on cars and watching Nascar and other Races. He loved dogs and working on his home and in his yard.

Jim passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019, at Unity Point Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge at the age of 88 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Cecil “Bud” Kepler and sisters, Bernadine Voss and Marge Hogan. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Thelma; sons, Bruce Kepler of Eagle Grove, Jim Kepler (Dani) of Des Moines and Pat Kepler (Karen) of Raleigh, NC; granddaughter, Kelli Kepler and her daughter of Johnston; sisters, Sara Noss of Dougherty and Lorraine Eikenberry of North Carolina and many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2019, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove, with Father Jerry Blake officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
