CHARLENE V. CAMPBELL

Charlene Valentine Cook was born October 26, 1918, in Rutland, Iowa, to Frank and Marie Origer Cook. She attended schools in Humboldt, Iowa, and graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1936. After graduating, she attended the Fort Dodge Business College for two years. She then went to work for Fort Dodge Abstract and Title until 1941. In 1941, she married Jack Campbell and the couple established their home in Fort Dodge, Iowa. In 1946, the couple moved to Humboldt. Throughout most of her life she was a homemaker. She had lived in Ottumwa, Iowa, since 1995. She was a past member of the Legion of Mary.

Charlene V. Campbell died Sunday, November 12, 2000, at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center, at the age of 82.

She is survived by one daughter, Joan Slater, and husband, Roger, Eagle Grove, Iowa; 4 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and one sister, Marian Schultz, Ottumwa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, John; two sisters, Joan Torgerson and Katherine Ehr; and one brother, Emery Cook.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 14, 2000, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Humboldt, with the Reverend Eugene Ulses officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial was held in St. Mary's Cemetery, Humboldt.

Sievers-Swank-Laufersweiler Funeral Home of Humboldt was in charge of the arrangements.
