Stanley O. Sandvig, 89, of Thor, died Thursday, March 25, 2004, at the Long Term Care Unit of the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, at the Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor with the Rev. Keith Sievers officiating. Burial will be in the East Ullensvang Lutheran Cemetery in Thor.

Stanley Oscar Sandvig was born March 16, 1915, the son of Jens B. and Ingeleiv (Maage) Sandvig on a farm south of Thor. He attended country schools and at the age of 15 began farming. He graduated from Thor High School and on September 5, 1943, married Faye Allen at Kamrar. The couple made their home on the Sandvig Family Farm where they continued their farming operation until their retirement. They continued to maintain their home on the farm until Stanley became a resident of the Long Term Care Unit on March 23, 2004. He was a member of the Ullensvang Lutheran Church and was a past member of the Sons of Norway. Stanley loved music and watching sporting events.

He is survived by his wife, Faye, of Thor; daughters and son-in-laws, Georgia and Roger Baderschneider, of Longwood, Fla.; Sharon and Don Cerwick, of Slater; and Susan and Mike Gates, of Mount Vernon; son, Allan Sandvig, of Downey, Calf.; grandchildren and their spouses, Eric and Hannah, Ryan and Ammani, Andria, Andrew, and Donny; sisters Louise Larson of Bloomington, Minn,; and Martha Carson, of Forest City; and brothers John Sandvig, of Humboldt; and Arthur Sandvig, of Memphis, Tenn. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt was in charge of the arrangements.
