Verna M. Poquette, age 80, of Dundas, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at Three Links Care Center.

Verna was born April 5, 1938, the daughter of Elmer and Elsie (Arndt) Wood at the family home in Holstein, Iowa. Her father worked for the railroad and the family moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa and later to Fairmont, Minnesota where she graduated from high school in 1956. Verna then moved to Minneapolis and attended secretarial school and modeling school. She worked for the First National Bank in Minneapolis and in 1959, she was united in marriage to Norman Poquette at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Richfield, Minnesota and started a family. She began working for her brother Chuck who was a landscape architect. The family moved to Burnsville where Verna managed Family Chiropractic Clinic in Eagan and on July 4, 1976, they moved to a farm near Dundas.

Verna was adventurous and an exercise enthusiast, hiking, walking, camping and running. She enjoyed traveling and vacationing from coast to coast. Verna spent time with friends traveling to destinations like Churchill on Hudson Bay, Galena, Illinois and Door County, Wisconsin. She was an avid reader and life-long learner. She had a flair for fashion along with interior decorating. She loved animals especially dogs and her horses often going on horseback rides. She loved her family very much and looked forward to cousin’s day every week when all the grandchildren came over. Verna will be known for her kind, caring, loving and graceful nature and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband Norman of Dundas; her children Gregg (Cathy) of Eagan; Cheri (Bruce) Plante of Bay City, WI; Scott (Kris) of Northfield; Jackie (Dave) Hubers of Northfield; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Chuck.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019, beginning at 10:30 AM at Church of St. Dominic. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 8, 2019, from 4 to 7 PM at Bierman Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service in the church. Memorials are preferred to Northfield Hospice. Arrangements by Bierman Funeral Home.
