Services for Kerrie Jean Fliss, formerly of Everly, were held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1992 at the United Methodist Church, Everly. Rev. Larry McAlpine officiated. Music was provided by Diane Mertens, organist, Nancy Bell, soloist and Sharon Cowan, accompanist. Nancy sang "The Rose" and "The Lord's Prayer." Pallbearers were Ron Ayres, Alan Krueger, Tom Leetch, Michael Thorne, Steven Thorne and Robert Schwarting.

Kerrie was born to Verlyn and Jodell (Schwarting) Fliss on June 15, 1965 at Hartley. She graduated from Everly High School as Salutatorian of the Class of 1983. She then graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree and a major in English. She was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority and in 1987 was named one of the Outstanding Young Women in America. For one year after graduation she traveled for the sorority as a consultant. In 1989 she worked as a nanny for Drs. Richard and Beth Sackler of Greenwich, Conn. She had been employed by Continental Airlines since 1990.

Kerrie died Friday, Nov. 20 at John Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore, Md. after a one week illness. Surviving arc her parents, Verlyn Fliss and his wife Pamela, Belmond and Jodell Fliss, Arnolds Park; brother Gregg and Rita Fliss,
Alexander and their four children, Jennifer, Grant, Ryan and Blake; three step-brothers, Tony, Jamie and Kelly Pals; grandmother, Myrtle Fliss, Okoboji; aunts, uncles, cousins and many special friends. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Harris. Turner Funeral Home, Spirit Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
