Ed Wood of Eagle Grove died at Lutheran hospital, Wednesday, November 29, following a stroke suffered in Fort Dodge Monday at the age of 70. Funeral services were at Eagle Grove Evangelical church, Kenneth R. Torvik, pastor, Saturday at 3:00, followed by interment at Rose Hill cemetery.

He was born Eddie Alfred to George and Betsy Wood in Polk county, Iowa, March 4, 1891. He moved with his family to Eagle Grove in 1897 where he attended public schools. In 1917 he served in the United States Army. For 35 years he served the Iowa Public Service Co., until his retirement in 1956.

In August 1927 he married Mary Alice Stracke Prehm of Eagle Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother having died last March at the age of 92, by, his wife, and by one brother Anfin killed in action in World War I. He is survived by six brothers: Thomas, Bert, Leonard, and Sylvan of Eagle Grove; James of Council Bluffs, and Elmer of Fairmont, Minn., and by one sister Mrs. Lillian Lageson, Fairmont, Minn. Four stepchildren survive him: Madeline, Mrs. Forrest Fromm and Doris, Mrs. Robert Godfrey of Eagle Grove, Mrs. Helen Adams of Minneapolis and Ronald Prehm of Newark, Ohio.
