Patricia Bosworth, 77, of Mahomet, Illinois, died at 8:20 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 14, 2017) at Arbor Rose Nursing Home, Monticello, Illinois.

Patricia Bosworth was born on October 17, 1939 to John and Opal (Knapp) Knock on a farm near Melvin, Iowa. She graduated from Melvin High School in 1957 where she was an excellent basketball player and student. She graduated from Iowa State University in 1961 with a degree in Family and Consumer Sciences. She also took further education courses from the University of Illinois.

Pat was married to Douglas Bosworth on May 28, 1961 at the American Lutheran Church in Melvin, Iowa. This was the same church where she was baptized and confirmed. Pat and Doug met on a blind date at Iowa State University in 1959.

She served as intern in the Scott County, Iowa Extension Office and taught at Rantoul City Schools for two years. In the Quad-Cities she was a substitute teacher in the Rock Island, Moline and Blackhawk Special Education School Districts.

Pat was very supportive of her children’s education programs and was active in the PTA in Rock Island and received special recognition of these activities in 1979. She was a member of P.E.O. in Rock Island and Chapter BK P.E.O. in Champaign. Pat was a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International. Pat was a Charter Member of New Beginnings Lutheran Church...

Pat was an active volunteer in her church communities and in the Rock Island and Mahomet communities.She was active in Helping Hands of Mahomet. She was an 1890’s “School Marm” at the country school and volunteer at the Museum of the Grand Prairie. Pat was an excellent seamstress and loved needlepoint and knitting. She enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens, loved to take long walks in Lake of the Woods Park, to exercise at the Fitness Center and was always ready to “bake something”!

She had many friends and had an infectious laugh that expressed her joy for life. Pat will be missed from her active life and love of people.

Pat was a supporter of University of Illinois athletics and was an avid basketball fan. Of all her life events, she was most proud of the successful lives of their children and grandchildren.

Pat is survived by her husband; a son, Douglas (Betty) Bosworth; a daughter, Dawn (Tony) Firmani; six grandchildren; a sister, Jacki Anderson and a brother, Anthony Knock. She was preceded in death by her parents.
