Karla Keenan, 61, of rural Stratford, passed away Monday, December 30, 2013 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames with many of her loving family members by her side after a long battle with cancer. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Asbury United Methodist Church with Pastor Terra Amundson and Chaplain Henrietta Klarenbeek co-officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church.

Karla Jean Longhenry, daughter of Melvin and Donna (White) Longhenry was born on July 26, 1952 in Webster City. Karla was baptized at the Homer Methodist Church and confirmed at Asbury United Methodist Church. She graduated from Webster City High School in 1970. She married Rick Keenan on July 28, 1979 at Asbury United Methodist Church. The couple had two children, Kandice and Kendall. She held several jobs, Zips, Boondocks, Royal Products, Turkey Plant, Ben Franklin, Dodger Manufacturing and 30 years at Frigidaire. In 1991, they built a new home on the family farm north of Stratford, where they have farmed since 1996.

Karla is survived by her husband, Rick; children, Kandice Keenan and Kendall Keenan both of Webster City; six grandchildren, Alex, Xavier, Mason, Konner, Sierra and Selena; parents, Melvin and Donna Longhenry of Webster City; brother, Dennis and Anita Longhenry of Webster City; father and mother-in-law, Ed and Shirley Price of Webster City; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bruce and Sylvia Keenan, Ron Keenan, Larry Keenan and Pam Keenan; many loving aunts, uncles and cousins; and very special friends, Vicki Peterson, Janet Estlund and Sandy Adams. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, William and Betsey White and Arthur and Elise Longhenry; father-in-law, Wayne Keenan; cousins, David and Dan Hansen and Debra Barker.

Karla enjoyed gardening, feeding and watching the birds, quilting, water skiing, baking with her kids and grandkids, going to grandkid’s activities and spending time with family and friends.
