Daryl L. Huling, 83, of Belmond passed away Friday, January 11, 2019 at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Funeral services for Daryl Huling will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Belmond United Methodist Church, 1031 1st Street South East in Belmond, with Pastor Don Morrison officiating. Burial will take place at the Belmond Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to be given to Daryl’s care givers he thought so much of.
Daryl Lee, son of Fern and Gladys (Nickerson) Huling, was born in Britt on May 29, 1935. Daryl grew up in the Britt area and graduated from Britt High School in 1953. He attended Iowa State University for a short time before he joined the military. Daryl was a lifelong farmer, he farmed for over 65 years in the Goodell and Belmond area. He raised crops his whole life in addition to livestock in the earlier years. Daryl was a traveler and spent his winters in Florida with his special friend, Eleanor. He was a huge wrestling and Alabama football fan. Until recently, Daryl played cards every Tuesday with his buddies in Britt. Yearly family gatherings were very special to Daryl.
Daryl is survived by his special friend of 28 years Eleanor Robertson; four children Michael (special friend Cindy Kvale), Mark (Missy), Murray (Yong), and Melanie (Kevin) Bistline; Eleanor’s son Leon (Vicki) Robertson; ten grandchildren Clint Huling, Kyle (Michelle) Huling, Nicole Huling, Tyson (Laura) Huling, Mataya Huling, Lauren (Brian) Hoffman, Drake Ebeling (fiancée Holly Fitzgerald), Evan Ebeling (fiancée McKenna Blong), Trystan Bistline, and Chloe Bistline; three great-grandchildren Logan Huling, Conner Huling, and Brynn Ebeling; and numerous other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister June, brothers Gene, Dale, Gary, and Marvin, and great-grandson Joseph Ebeling.
