Leona Frances (Sandry) Mayhew died at her farm home on Friday, March 3, 1995. Services were held Monday afternoon, March 6, 1995, at the United Methodist Church in Goodell, with Rev. Jerry Robertson officiating. Interment was at the Amsterdam Cemetery, Goodell. Music was provided by Shirley Kuhlers, organist; and Marilyn Janssen, vocalist. Casket bearers were Harold Smith, Donald Sandry, Dennis Barkema, Don Suntken, Clarence Sandry, and LeRoy Carolus.

Leona Frances Sandry, the daughter of Benjamin F. and Wilhemina (Olschalger) Sandry, was born September 8, 1904, at Belmond. She worked around Goodell until her marriage to Edgar VanCleve Mayhew on January 17, 1924, at the parsonage in Goodell. They worked near Goodell for three years, and then moved to the farm of her parents. They purchased this farm in 1943. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Edgar in May 1993; one great grandson; two brothers and one sister.
