Robert A. McNutt, the subject of this sketch, was born in Indiana County, Penn., February 2, 1841, died at his home in Goodell, Iowa, Feb. 28, 1911, aged 70 years, 26 days. Mr. McNutt has lived in and near Goodell for many years and was well known to all the old settlers of Hancock County. He served his country during the Civil War, enlisting from Pennsylvania, in Company K, 177th Penn., militia.
The I.O.O.F. lodge of which he had been a member attended the funeral in a body, the floral offerings by the lodge, friends and relatives were beautiful. Funeral was held from the United Brethren Church Thursday March 2nd. Rev. G. Harry Varce, officiating. Those of his immediate family who still survive are a wife, 3 children, all grown, and 9 grandchildren.
A number of the Old Soldiers from Belmond came up to help lay away another one of their old comrades, thus their ranks are fast depleting.
