Mr. and Mrs. Schmidt established their home on a farm six miles west of Klemme. Three years later, because of poor health, they moved to Klemme where they purchased a farm on the north side of town on which they resided for three years, after which the family moved to a farm seven miles west of Klemme, where they made their home until 1947, when they retired and moved to Klemme.

Albert Schmidt was baptized and confirmed in the Reformed church. He was a member of Immanuel Evangelical and Reformed (UCC) church and served as a deacon and elder of the church.

He is survived by his wife; his children, Luther of Klemme, Marie (Mrs. Gene Kluckhohn) of Austin, Texas, and Calvin of Dows; six grandchildren; two brothers, Fred of Klemme and Herman of Garner; and many other relatives. One grandchild preceded him in death.
