Rites here today for Californian, dead at age 95

Funeral services were to be held today (Thursday) at 2:00 p.m. at Johnston Funeral Home for Mrs. Frances F. Wyand, 95, a former Goodell resident who died Monday afternoon in [Los Angeles] California. Burial in Amsterdam cemetery at Goodell was to follow. Pallbearers named were Donald Baker, John Baker, Harold Baker, Terrell Baker, Wayne Vestweber and Walter Hoffman.

Mrs. Wyand, who as Frances Farman lived with her parents in Goodell many years ago, had been making her home at Eagle Rock, Calif. She was born at Janesville, Wis., on Sept. 2, 1870, her family moving to Iowa when she was a young girl. After she had married Simon Samuel Wyand at Goodell, her husband took training as a minister and served various Methodist churches in this state before becoming pastor of the First Methodist church of Duluth, Minn., where the Wyands continued to live until his death in 1933. Shortly thereafter she moved to California.

Local nephews and nieces surviving are: Glen Baker, Ralph Baker and Cal Thomas; also Mrs. William Vestweber of Alexander and Mrs. Walt Hoffman of Humboldt. Other kin include Max Baker of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Blanche Stevenson and John Baker of Sun Valley, Calif., Bert Nelson of Cedar Rapids.
