J. Drury Funeral Held Last Friday

Funeral services were held last Friday at the Kanawha Methodist church for J. I. Drury, 54, who passed away Wednesday. He had been in ill health for some time due to a heart ailment. Services were conducted by Rev. R. D. Kitterman and interment was in Kanawha cemetery.

J. I. Drury, son of Ed and Mary Drury, was born April 15, 1896, at Panola, Ill. At the age of four he moved with his parents to Iowa, where they located at Popejoy. There they resided for a few years, then moving to Dows for a period of one year and later to Rowan. His early education was received in the Popejoy and Rowan schools.

On Feb. 28, 1916, he married Flora Fowler and five children were born to them. Three years after their marriage they moved to South Dakota, where they spent 15 years living near Highmore and Iroquois. During the drought years of the '30's they moved back to Iowa and have since lived in the Kanawha community.

Mr. Drury is survived by his wife, Flora; his children, Marguerite - Mrs. Merle Ruka of Goodell, Robert of Rowen, Florence - Mrs. Donald Johnson of Britt, Beryl of Des Moines and Keith at home; also six grandchildren and five brothers and sisters - Mrs. Bert Trousdale of Alden, Mrs. Pascoe of Des Moines, Frank of Clarion, Mrs. Herbert Hadley of Rowen and Ezra of Harrold S. D.
