Lysle E. Wilson, 62, Backus, Minnesota, formerly of Winterset and Eagle Grove, died Saturday, May 1, 1982 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Des Moines of a heart ailment. Lysle was born in Eagle Grove. He went to Winterset where he spent the years 1960-1966, and lived in Minnesota since his retirement in 1974. The rest of his life had been spent in Eagle Grove. He was a member of the Eagle Grove United Methodist Church, past president of Eagle Grove American Legion, a member of the Rotary Ann Board and Rotary Ann Apartment Board, Eagle Grove Odd Fellow Lodge, Winterset Masonic Lodge, and a Navy Veteran of World War II.
Lysle Wilson graduated from the Eagle Grove Junior College in 1938, and in 1941 graduated from the St. Louis Mortuary College. He owned the Wilson Funeral Home in Eagle Grove from 1941 to 1954 when his health forced him to sell his business and retire. Regained health led to the purchase of a funeral home in Winterset, 1960-1966, at which time he returned to Eagle Grove and purchased his funeral home again. He retired in 1974 and moved to Backus, Minnesota. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia; two sons, Larry Wilson of Noblesville, Ind., and Bill Wilson of Ankeny, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Howard (Dorothy) Rasmussen of Hardy, Iowa, and Mrs. Kenneth (Helen) DeVore of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and one brother, Warren Wilson of Boone. Four grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held in the Eagle Grove First United Methodist Church on Tuesday, May 4 at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Don Callen officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. The Ankeny Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
