STERLING, ILLINOIS – Irene L. Lindsay, age 99, died Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Rock Falls Rehabilitation & Health Care Center. Irene was born on July 6, 1919 in Vincent, Iowa the daughter of Otto and Florence (Modler) Dencklau. She married Charles Lindsay on July 30, 1937 in Clinton, Iowa. He died April 9, 2001. She was a member of Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sterling. Irene in her younger years loved to play golf, bowling, quilting and an avid Bingo player. She loved her family gatherings at their home in Moonlight Bay where all the kids learned to swim.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Knutsen of Sterling and Janice Ronzone of Galt; one son, Rolland (Susan) Lindsay of Milledgeville; eleven grandchildren, Keith (Holly) Knutsen, Debbie (Tom) Tiesman, Kraig (Darci) Knutsen, Dawn (JB) Dillon, Dana (James) Bond, Megon Holldorf, Charles Lindsay, Rorie (Kyle) Ivey, Max (Beth) Lindsay, Erica (Dan) Brokaw and Ken (Giselle) Ronzone; twenty-four great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers; one sister.

Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sterling. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM with Pastor Kirk Neugebauer officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Sterling. Arrangements were completed by the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls.
