Loretta, the daughter of Nelson and Margaret McMicken Herrick, was born at Hopkins, Allegan county, Michigan, May 19, 1866, and passed away at her home in Eagle Grove, Feb. 8, 1937, her age being at the time of her death, 70 years, 8 months and 20 days.
She was united in marriage to William J Reynolds, April 8, 1886, at New Era, Mich. During the same year, Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds moved to Eagle Grove which was thereafter to be their home.
To this union were born a daughter, who died in infancy, and four boys. Guy Franklin who met his death on the Chicago North Western railroad, June 4, 1913, John Howard now of Eagle Grove, Claude Fay of Racine, Wis., and Leonard Charles of Chadron, Neb.
The husband lost his life in the service of the Chicago-North Western, Nov. 18, 1914, as a result of foul play. Besides her three sons, there remains to mourn their loss, two grandchildren, Edythe and Loretta, the two daughters of John H. Reynolds and several nephews and nieces, besides a host of friends.
She was a member of the order of Eastern Star, the White Shrine, the Auxiliary to the Brotherhood of Railway Conductors and the First Congregational church of Eagle Grove.
