Rites for Youth Drowned in Lake Cornelia

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. for Richard Happel, 18, Stanhope area farm youth, whose body was found in Lake Cornelia near Clarion Monday about 7:20 p.m. He had drowned there Sunday afternoon.

Funeral rties were conducted at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Mackey, north of Boone, with the Rev. Alfred Allman officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with the Schroeder Funeral Home, Boone, in charge. The youth's body was found Monday evening in the same general area of the lake where he had gone down. The discovery climaxed a 29-hour search by many rescue units, fire departments, sheriff's officers and neighbors.

The youth is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Happel, RFD 3, Boone; one brother, Darrell, 14, and a step-grandmother, Mrs. Anna Meyer of Washington state.
