Maureen Eileen Haxton, the daughter of John Haxton and Eileen Haxton Beebe, was born on April 27, 1969, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She grew up in Eagle Grove, Iowa, and attended Eagle Grove schools graduating as salutatorian with the Class of 1987. She attended the University of Northern Iowa. While earning her master’s degree in French, she realized a dream to spend a summer studying in France. Maureen pursued a variety of employment opportunities which included working at Stro-Jo’s now known as Twiins Shoppe, the Cafe on the corner of Lucas and Broadway for Roberta Allen, plus a variety of temp jobs before being employed by Auto-Owners Insurance company. During her more than twenty years of employment with Auto-Owners, she worked in their offices in Des Moines, Iowa, Appleton, Wis., home office in Lansing, Mich., and finally in Fargo, N. D. While working for Auto-Owners, she became knowledgeable in all areas of the company and loved sharing her knowledge with everyone who asked. Maureen was an active member of Broadcasters for Jesus Ministries, Inc. (BFJMI) that was founded by her aunts, Rev. Sharon Sours and Rev. Jean Clark, as treasurer and board member. This ministry was near and dear to her heart as she shared their mission to share Jesus with the world.

Growing up on the farm, she loved being with the horses and the many dogs the family had as pets. She enjoyed attending horse shows with the family and the camping that went with attending those shows. Maureen enjoyed Girl Scout activities, especially Day Camp and Summer Camp at Camp Lakota in Dayton. She was also an avid reader from the first book she read in first grade with Helen Coltvet until the very end. For many years, she kept a file card record of every book she read as an extension of recording books read that began in first grade. She also enjoyed crocheting most of her life. A skill she learned from a family friend at a young age.

Maureen passed away September 22, 2018 at Chandler Regional Medical Center in Chandler, Ariz., at the age of 49 years. She was preceded in death by her father, John Haxton; grandparents, Harley and Thelma (Luse) Haxton, and Claire and Lucille (Pratt) Sours; an uncle, Clifton (Marilyn) Sours; and aunts, Sharon Sours and Barbara (Robert) Brant.
